Film Opening Update

It is currently the week of March 13th. More factors have come together for my film opening, and I plan on starting filming next week. 

Mise-en-Scene 

As mentioned in the previous blog posts, the mise-en-scene is a very important part of the film opening. It helps show the nature of the characters and adds more to the opening. I started working on the bog props in the scene. 

Above is the detective board design I am going for. It is very popular in many crime and detective films and helps introduce the attribute of a murder-solving theme that goes on in the film. It will help show the girl's obsessiveness with finding her mom's murderer. 

I am also going to include a desk with many energy drinks. This helps show how keen the girl is on finding out her mother's murderer and shows how truly obsessed she is with it. 

Updates 

In the last blog posts, one of the main problems I faced was the actors. I have finally found two actors for my opening. In addition, I also of the equipment to have a better filming process. I purchased a gimbal stabilizer. One of the main problems in my sweading video and my music video was shaking shots. This helps alleviate that problem. I have included pictures of it, and videos of me testing it. 

This is the Gimbal I purchased. 

    

This shows the tracking feature in which the gimbal will automatically follow a subject and turn smoothly. 

This is just a regular tracking shot of my dog. The shakiness of stepping is not there. 

Conclusion

I have made a decent amount of progress with the planning process for my film opening. I have set a few days to film, and I am projected to be done at the end of the month. I also feel ready to do the cinematography due to many errors I have learned from when filming the music video and sweading project. I have also learned the importance of clear dialogue, and I will be utilizing resources like mics, and eliminating background noise. Lastly, I am very familiarized with the editing software. Although, I am going to be using a more advanced version this time to achieve the product I want.
